Financial Aid Information Sheet and Instructions
Summer 2014, Academic Year 2014-2015
Submit your application for financial aid as early as possible or at the same time you submit your application for admission. Do not wait to be accepted by Bread Loaf School of English to apply for financial aid. Aid is awarded on a first come - first serve basis. We will request any items necessary to complete your financial aid file, and we cannot make an aid decision until you have been accepted to Bread Loaf School of English. Our financial aid budget
run out, so you should send a complete application to Student Financial Services as soon as possible, to ensure the best possible chance of receiving aid. Aid decisions for the academic year abroad are made at the same time as decisions for the summer. If you wait until the summer to apply for aid for the academic year, funds may be depleted.
Put your name on all documents, keep photocopies of everything you send us, and keep a record of the date that you mail each item.
Following is a checklist of the basic documents necessary to complete an application for financial aid. Supplemental information will be requested if necessary.

If you are interested in the Federal Stafford Loan program you will need to complete the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1, 2014. If you are selected for Federal verification we will need to collect your 2013 Federal tax returns and W2(s).

A student who has earned a Bachelor's degree will be considered self-supporting for the purpose of determining eligibility for Middlebury financial aid. Students who have not attained a Bachelor's degree will be considered dependent students and are required to complete the Family Information Supplement.
